Every accident is different. These are common questions and answers and not intended to be legal advise. What should I do after an accident?

If you have been injured in an accident, your first priority is your health. You should receive any medical attention you require. If you are not taken to the emergency room after your accident, you should take photos or videos of the scene and get the contact information of any witnesses to the accident. Do not admit fault or apologize to anyone that was involved in the accident. If you believe someone caused the accident, you should set up a consultation with a Major Law Firm car accident attorney to discuss your options. Our consultations are 100% free and completely confidential.

What do you do, if you’re not sure that you have a case?

Determining whether you have a case is a difficult and complex calculation. Here at the Major Law Firm we use our experience, skill, and know how to evaluate the facts of your case to determine what type of compensation you may be entitled to. Please contact the Major Law Firm for a free and private consultation. You may have a case even if you do not feel hurt. Often time my clients do not initially feel hurt at the scene. When you are involved in an accident, your body sends adrenaline throughout your body, which reduces the sensation of pain. Often times you will feel significant pain and develop other symptoms after the accident. Because your health is the number one priority, it is recommended that you consult a doctor even if you do not feel immediate, severe pain. Medical studies have shown that some of the most serious symptoms of accidents emerge over time.

What if an attorney or insurance adjuster contacts me?

Do not speak with an insurance adjuster for the opposing side. An insurance adjuster for the other side will attempt to get you to make statements that would reduce or eliminate the liability of the insured. If the liability of the insured is eliminated then you will not be able to recover for your injuries and medical bills. If you are contacted by the insured's insurance adjuster, direct the insurance adjuster to contact your attorney. If anyone, including another attorney, contacts you direct them to the Major Law Firm. We are happy to talk to anyone on your behalf.

How much is my case worth?

This is by far the most asked question. The value of your case depends on a multitude of different factors. The main factor is the nature of your injuries. At the Major Law Firm we conduct a full scale investigation into your injuries so that we can evaluate the full extent of your damages. Other factors are the insurance coverage of the at fault party and your own insurance coverage. In order to provide an estimate, please schedule a free, no cost confidential consultation. The Major Law Firm is available 24/7.

What if I have a pre-existing condition?

Even if you have a pre-existing condition you can still recover damages from the at-fault party. The Court or jury may reduce the award to account for the pre-existing condition, but you are still entitled to recover damages. Texas follows the eggshell doctrine which means that the at-fault party is not excused simply because you have a pre-existing condition that was aggravated by someone else's negligence.

How long does a personal injury case take?

The short answer is it depends. Some cases can be resolved very quickly and other cases require more time and effort before an appropriate outcome can be reached. Our ultimate goal is to get you the most money possible to compensate you for your injuries. Here at the Major Law firm we believe in your constitutional right to a jury trial. While the vast majority of personal injury cases settle some cases require a trial in order to recover the appropriate amount of money. Cases that go to trial tend to take longer than those that settle. We will keep you informed every step of the way so that you have an accurate idea of how long your case will take.
